Network security is playing an ever increasing role as everything is connected to the Internet and put out in the cloud. This panel will examine the major pain points faced by cloud providers, service providers and enterprises and the innovation and rapid developments that are taking place to address the challenges. The speakers will outline novel threat detection capabilities and machine learning approaches that are developed by start-up companies or incubated in established corporations and the ability of the network to protect valuable data and resources, whether they be in the enterprise or in the cloud, from the ever increasing threat from hackers. This panel will also discuss key domains to invest and specific areas where significant value can be found. Girish is part of the Corporate Development & Strategy organization at Juniper and drives partnership and business development initiatives to enable Juniper's customers to offer innovative and cutting-edge solutions driven by a strategy for profitable growth. Girish has been instrumental in establishing strategic partnerships with Pulse Secure, Ruckus Wireless, Aerohive Networks, Aruba Networks, Gainspeed, Nokia Networks, Hitachi, IBM and equity investments in partners for market access as well as divestiture initiatives. Prior to Juniper, Girish held leadership positions in business development, strategy, marketing and product management in the cloud, mobile, cable, telco and semiconductor industries – most recently at Reliance Industries where he helped develop strategy and partnerships for the IaaS cloud services using OpenStack as well as inking partnerships in the data center, colocation and global fiber connectivity for the 4G network. Girish is deeply involved in the non-profit sector serving as the Board President at CALICO Center, which brings healing and justice to child abuse victims and was a board member of Sankara Eye Foundation, USA – one of the largest community eye care initiatives in the world. Girish holds an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Ph.D. from Boston University and B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
Mihir Maniar is Vice President of Security Products and Strategy at Juniper and joined in April 2015. In this role, Mihir is responsible for driving business growth on the SRX portfolio, virtualization and cloud security services, and the Security management/orchestration systems.
Mihir is a seasoned business and technology leader and prior to joining Juniper he was at Cisco for 16 years in various Executive management roles with most recently being the Senior Director of Product Management/Marketing for the Network Software group. Mihir was responsible for Cisco's Software Strategy across Datacenter/Cloud, Enterprise, Service Provider Business Groups, L4-L7 network services and SDN contributing to $20B+ in annual revenue. Mihir is a big-picture, results-proven leader focused on building high-performance teams and transforming market disruption as well as customer issues into highly successful, profitable products. Mihir has lead diverse multibillion-dollar product groups at Cisco with #1 or #2 market share dominance from infancy to success.
Previous to Cisco, Mihir was at Zeitnet, an early stage tier-1 VC funded startup with a successful acquisition exit.
Rajneesh Chopra is the VP of Products at Netskope since the company’s inception, helping create a new market and building it up to be the market leader that is production at some of the largest F2000 companies. Prior to Netskope, he was responsible for the entire network security portfolio at Cisco including the firewall portfolio, web and endpoint security products. At Juniper, he most recently led product management for the advanced security in hyper scale datacenter following several other strategic and product roles. He holds an MBA from University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the NITK, India.
Phil Montgomery joined Pulse Secure in early 2016 and is responsible for all Pulse Secure Marketing, bringing more than 20 years of industry experience. At Pulse Secure, Montgomery leads Corporate Marketing, as well as Product and Solutions Marketing. Prior to joining Pulse Secure, Montgomery served as Executive Vice president and Chief Product Office of Identiv, Inc, where he was responsible for the company’s product strategy and execution. Montgomery also spent three years with VMware running Product Management for their end-user computing group, and seven years with Citrix Systems, launching the Citrix Secure Gateway (CSG) and the rollout of companywide security marketing strategy. Montgomery graduated from the University of Southern Queensland with a bachelor of business degree in operations management and end-user computing.
Sunil is Director at Intel Capital focusing on investments for Software and Services including cloud infrastructure, vertical industries, and next-generation enterprise applications. He sits on the board of directors for Intel Capital portfolio company LISNR and provides support for Mark One. Prior to joining Intel Capital, Sunil led investments at Mirador Capital and Charter Ventures and has worked in product strategy in the Client Computing Group at Intel. Sunil has held board or advisory roles at Ellie Mae (NYSE: ELLI), Deem, Sumo Logic, Snowflake Computing, Xensource (NASDAQ: CTXS), Clear Standards (NYSE: SAP), Splunk (NASDAQ: SPLK), DATAllegro (NASDAQ: MSFT), Solidcore (NASDAQ: INTC), TeleNav (NASDAQ: TNAV), Winery Exchange, and SysteamUS.
Previously, Sunil spent several years with Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse in M&A and equity financing working with leading technology companies including Cisco, Yahoo, HP, Oracle and Applied Materials, among others. Sunil holds a BS in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley.
